Overcoming Sore Throat, Here’s How!

Although not a serious illness, sore throat can be very annoying. Because, eating and drinking anything will feel awry. Not only pain when swallowing, sore throat is also often accompanied by a low-grade fever which can disrupt activities.

In medical terms, inflammation is known as tonsillopharyngitis. The reason is, it is often accompanied by inflammation of the tonsils or tonsils. The common cause of strep throat is a virus, although in some cases it can also be caused by bacteria, such as Streptococcus beta hemolyticus, Streptococcus viridans, and Streptococcus pyogenes.

Sore throat can also be caused by fungus. Therefore, the symptoms of strep throat also vary greatly, depending on the cause. Sore throat caused by infection with certain germs can be accompanied by complaints of cough, runny nose, and fever.
Apart from taking drugs, sore throat can also be overcome with the following natural methods and ingredients:

1 Drink plenty of water and rest

The best natural remedy for sore throat is to drink lots of water and rest. If you feel lazy to drink water, you can try adding a little lemon juice to a glass of warm water. Lemon can boost immunity, thereby accelerating the healing of diseases.
Sore throat is also often accompanied by cold symptoms. Consuming warm drinks can also help relieve your nose from congestion, so you can breathe more easily.

2 Gargle Salt Water

Gargling with salt water is one way to relieve pain when swallowing due to sore throat. Salt water can help coat and moisten the lining of the throat, so that pain when swallowing can be reduced.
Furthermore, salt can function as a water attractant and symptom reliever. Salt can help relieve inflammation in the throat and vocal cords. You can try gargling salt water 2-3 times a day until the symptoms of sore throat are reduced.

3 Consuming Honey

This sweetie, which is often used as a sugar substitute, can actually help with sore throats, you know. This is because honey has antibacterial and antiviral effects. According to a study published in the Archives of Medical Research in 2014, manuka honey has been shown to inhibit the replication of the influenza virus and accelerate the healing of flu infections.
Consuming honey, either directly or mixed in drinks such as water or tea, has been shown to be effective in reducing mucus production and reducing cough symptoms in children. It should be noted that you should choose natural honey that does not contain added other substances.

4 Warm Water Bath

Bathing with warm water can also help soothe a sore throat. The steam from the warm water can help moisten the vocal cords. To make your body more relaxed, you can also add essential oils or aromatherapy.
Apart from that, you can use a humidifier or a device to humidify the air at home. Because when sleeping at night, the throat tends to be drier because saliva production decreases, so the inflammation will get worse.
